If you are photographing cats in a dark room, then consider using an LED light. Whether the cats are out and about in a free-roaming room, or inside of their cages, this LED light will illuminate without scaring them. Flashes are not a good option for cats indoors because it may scare them, and their retinas will likely respond to the flash, resulting in red-eye, green-eye, yellow-eye, purple-eye, etc.
